On behalf of the Willow House Board of Directors, Staff, Gala Committee and, most importantly, the grieving children, families and communities we serve, our sincere thanks for your support which helped to make the 2017 Willow House Gala: Follow the Yellow Brick Road a tremendous success! We are happy to report that over $68,000 has been raised from this year's Spring Gala!
Approximately 200 guests enjoyed a festive Wizard of Oz adorned evening with fabulous silent and live auction items, a sit down dinner and a moving program with a presentation of the 2017 Willow House Ambassador of HOPE Award to our dear friend Pastor Bob Davis from Holy Cross Lutheran Church, a lovely video and a wonderful Willow House testimonial message from 12 year old Charlie McCarthy who attended support groups several years ago with his twin brother Ben and their Mom after his Dad died of cancer.
Please enjoy photos from the evening, captured by Emilio Albertini of SecondCity Images:

The 2017 Ambassador of HOPE Recipient
The Willow House Ambassador of Hope Award is presented to the family, individual or organization that has exemplified HOPE, the spirit and essence of Willow House. Recipients embody in word and deed the advancement of the mission of Willow House, taking an active and integral part in the cultivation and dissemination of HOPE.
"But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful." - Elizabeth Edwards

Did you know... that recent research indicates that 5% of all U.S. children 15-years-old and younger will suffer and grieve the death of one or both parents? In the state of Illinois that is more than 158,000 children. Willow House is the only independent organization in the state whose sole mission and passion is to serve this population.
Willow House provides support services to children, teens and families who are grieving the death of a loved one. For more than 18 years, Willow House has been the “go to” program in the greater Chicago area, called upon to help young grieving families, school communities and others in crisis as they cope with death. All services are provided at no charge.
