A death in school communities has become more likely over the past years for a number of reasons; in part, because of our aging population. With regard to parents - many women are having children much later in life and more frequent remarriages occur between "older" adults, especially fathers With regard to school communities, workers, including school staff, often remain on the job longer, retiring at a later age.
The percentage of students expected to experience the death of a parent as noted above is expected to rise. Additionally, this statistic does not include the deaths of students' siblings, friends, classmates, teachers, coaches and other members of the school community, all of which add to an ever greater need in school communities.
Please call 847.236-9300 to discuss how we can help you to better prepare for the needs of grieving students and staff in your school community.
